I had so much fun at the Free Tree show at @curryl I had so much fun at the Free Tree show at @currylands that I forgot to photograph anything. According to my photo gallery, I was apparently most excited to try the McKeever Twist beverage, hang out by the fire after, and see the waning gibbous moon hanging misty and moody in the sky too late in the night. Not photographed: a really fun set, killer performances by @shyamala.athaide, @raja.h.ganesh, @begogomezspain, several bottomless conversations with new friends, beautiful times in the new stage space.
When @halley.matthew announced his bird walk with When @halley.matthew announced his bird walk with @birdphilly, I knew I had to come see the story that he’s worked so long to uncover. Alexander Wilson’s home, workshop, the place where he and his engraver created American Ornithology, contributing to the important scientific documentation of a newly blooming nation - Matt pored over documents for years and years and uncovered this location. I’ve heard him tell these stories and I am pleased that BirdPhilly has the incredible taste and good sense to provide a venue for the story - not only of Wilson and American Ornithology, but of a community of scientists who supported each other, even beyond their deaths. We all want it to be warm enough to play music outside, but in spite of spring returning, it just ain't quite there yet. The warmth is in our hearts, and maybe my cheeks in some of these photos, after having some very delicious wine. Special thanks to appreciative audience members who came for the wine and stayed for the music, and much love to folks who came to see me! Never gets old! Thank you!
